NOTE: This article is probably one of the best comprehensive gift idea guides for men and teenage boys! Whether your guy is an outdoorsman, a sportsman, a gamer, a businessman, or other…It’s likely you’ll find something here! If you have other ideas for items I should add, please leave a comment at the end! Enjoy!

Aren't men so hard to buy gifts for? If the men in your life are like the men in mine, they either have everything they need (or so they say), or they don't want you to bother with them because they know you are worrying about everything else (isn't that considerate?). But still.

For me, having four grown up sons & step-sons, two Dads, several sons-in-law, an amazing husband, step-brothers, and a brother---well, I can tell you that shopping for men is always a challenge, even after years of experience.

Here are my favorite items that I've given over the years OR that I would love to give when the time and finances are right! You'll get some great gift ideas to get you started for the manly men in your life!!

I've categorized these into gifts for the Working Man, the Survivalist, the Hunter/Sportsman, the Business Man, the Golfer, the Traveler, the Gamer, the Kayaker, the Fisherman, the Football Fan, the Camper/Outdoorsman, the Beer Loving Manly Man, the Muscle Man, the Snowboarder/Skier, and general necessary gifts for the Manly Man.

Those are the kinds of men I know, and I hope these ideas help you out!

Here are My Favorite Gift Ideas for Men:

Not all men are the same, right? So, I've roughly organized these gift ideas into "types" of men sections. I’ll bet you know men in some of these categories!

Gift Ideas for the Blue Collar Manly Man:

My husband is ALWAYS outdoors working. At home, here on our property, the outdoor projects are never-ending. And his daily job is physical too! Up and down ladders, bending over underneath cabinets, and some crazy athleticism on boom lifts. Here are some ideas for this kind of man:

  • A Quality Multi-Tool: You can't go wrong with this kind of gift. Most working men I know love tools, and having more than one multi-tool never hurts, either. Here is the Wingman by Leatherman, a reputable name, for sure! And here is the Wave Multi-tool (a very fancy option) also by Leatherman. It comes with a MOLLE sheath too.

  • Knee Pads: My hubs is on his knees working quite a bit, and yet he refuses to buy himself some knee pads. I want to cry sometimes when I watch him work. There is NO way my knees could take that abuse. Here are some knee pads for the working man that may work for your guy!

  • Sweat Soaker: Here is a very cool UV lightweight skullcap/headband combo that not only protects your guy's head but soaks up the sweat, helping it evaporate too. If your man is balding a bit (like Mr. V.), this is a great gift that says, "I love you too much for skin cancer." This particular option also has a tail that protects your man's neck from sunburn too.

  • Tool Belt: This link is to a tool belt that's perfect for the weekend warrior! My hubs is famous for leaving his tools around the yard, and although meaning to get them later---forgets. He doesn't hesitate to wear a chicken egg apron of mine, so I think this is a great gift for the guy with lots of outdoor home projects!

Other great ideas for the Blue Collar Manly Man:

Gift Ideas for the Survivalist/Prepper Manly Man:

These are just cool gifts. Most men love this stuff, even if they are not hardcore survivalists or preppers. The typical outdoorsman will enjoy the heck out of these ideas too!

  • Tactical Pen: This Smith & Wesson heavy duty tactical pen functions both as a pen as well as a kabuton. Perfect for the survivalist or the man who wants to be prepared for self-defense at all times. It also has great reviews!

  • Sawyer Mini Water Filtration System: This handy water filtration system is perfect for both the backpacker and the survivalist's bug out bag. It would also fit into your Get Home Bag too! Weighing in at just 2 ounces, it will filter thousands of gallons of the grossest water!

  • Fire Starter: Have you ever tried to start a fire in the rain or a snow storm? I have, and trust me: it's not fun. Perhaps your guy would love to add a Gerber Fire Starter to his stash? Add some Wet Fire Tinder packs, and he'll be ready to roll! If you really want to be complete with this gift, add a dry bag for him to store his fire starting supplies in!

  • Night Vision Monocular: I don't know of an outdoor man who is interested in survival who wouldn't like to have one of these. With a night vision monocular, like this Bushnell, your man can easily see at night!

Other gift ideas for the Survival Manly Man:

  • Prepping books (Bushcraft skills, How to Use an Axe)

  • SHTF books (Anything by Mark Goodwin, A. American, Franklin Horton) And if your man is new to prepping, he’d probably love One Second After, a must read by William Forschten. You can also get these stories on Audible, for the man who has time to listen and no time to read (like Mr. V.).

  • Cast iron cookware of all kinds. I love this Dutch Oven!

  • Weapons of choice

Gifts for the Sporting Manly Man (Hunting/Fishing/Birding):

  • Blood Trailing Light: As I discovered on my very first hunt, one of a hunter's biggest fears is injuring an animal and having it run off to suffer. A blood trailing light is a critical tool for the hunter who deals with dawn, dusk, night time, and shadows.

  • Scent Masking Tools: Every hunter I know is at least a little concerned about scent. Animals have some crazy effective scent abilities, and hunters try to cut down on their own smells. This Scent Crusher Ozone Go plugs into your man's car and cleans the air and everything else while he travels to his next spot.

  • Duffel & Gear Bag: Sportsmen carry a LOT of stuff, sometimes. For the man who is going to be gone for awhile and needs room to carry his things and stay organized, a sturdy camouflage duffel is the perfect gift. This Carhartt RealTree duffel bag is perfect for storing all his needs!

  • Binoculars: If you know sportsmen of any kind, it's likely they would love a new pair of binoculars for searching out game, birds, and more. We have a neighbor into hunting who is rarely without his binoculars in hand, and we keep ours hanging in two places in our home, ready to use. We also have a pair in our pick up trucks. You never know when you'll need a good pair of binoculars! These Bushnell Water-and Fog-Proof Binoculars are Mr. V.'s favorite pair!

Other great gift ideas for the Sportsman/Hunter/Fisherman:

Gifts for the Camper Manly Man:

This guy is definitely an outdoorsman, but he’s not totally hardcore like the survivalist or the hunter. Here are some great ideas for the manly man who falls into this category (some of these items your hunter or survivalist would love also):

Gifts for the Business Man:

Even if your man loves the outdoors, is a weekend warrior, or is into prepping and survivalism, he may also work a 9 to 5 desk job. If your man works in the business arena, here are some great gift ideas for him:

  • Collar Stays: If your man needs to wear a dress shirt every day, it is very frustrating when those cheap collar stays that come with dress shirts fall out. How about some stainless steel collar stays that come in a set of 50! He'll never run out of these sturdy and useful stays.

  • Jerry Garcia Tie: You can't go wrong with a Jerry Garcia fashion tie for your man. These silk ties are full of personality so you can choose the perfect one!

  • Leather Zippered Folio: Perhaps your guy is always having to carry documents and keep them neat. This handy high quality leather folio is perfect!

  • Breakfast Sandwich Maker: Your man would probably appreciate a quick breakfast as he heads out the door. This Hamilton Beach Breakfast Sandwich maker is a great idea for him and possibly you, too!

  • Nice Fountain Pen: Nothing says “I’m successful” better than an elegant fountain pen for the businessman! You can even have it engraved so it’s personalized.

Gifts for the Football Fan:

  • Vanity license plate with the sports team

  • Team hat or beanie

  • Team shirt

  • Subscription to a Sport magazine

Gifts for the Traveling Man:

Gifts for the Gamer:

Gamers are in their own special category! Here are some great ideas for the guy who loves gaming:

  • Gaming Headset: Turns out, this is a pretty important accessory! Gaming headphones allow your gamer to communicate with other players, while cancelling out extraneous noise. Perfect!

  • Subscription to a Gaming Magazine

  • Games

  • Surge Protector

  • Gaming Chair: Gamers love comfort while they are doing their gaming thing. How about this Pro-Series Video Gaming Chair? Your man will feel the power!
