I love beeswax! The scent, the color, everything! The sweet smell cleans the air, and the lovely color matches every color scheme! My big introduction to beeswax came when I began making herbal salves for medicinal reasons. That's about where my experimentation with beeswax stopped for years! I've tried doing some other things with beeswax, like make candles (which failed), but haven't really thought too much about other possibilities. I knew they were out there---but I didn't have a resource or even know where to look. But THEN...I recently came across The Beeswax Workshop, by Chris Dalziel. This is the most amazingly complete book on hundreds of different ways to use beeswax I have ever seen!

What is GREAT About The Beeswax Workshop

There are many reasons I highly recommend The Beeswax Workshop by Chris Dalziel. It's extremely well-written, contains excellent information, and provides an amazingly wide range of product ideas to make using beeswax, along with reasons for using beeswax instead of chemicals.

It's Well-Written with Clear Directions

Chris Dalziel is an excellent writer. Her style is down to earth, easy to understand, and she provides exceptionally clear directions for all of her projects. Even if you don't read the entire book due to the extremely large number of possible projects you could potentially create, what you do read will be concise and easy to follow.

In the beginning of the book, Chris shares basic information about bees and beeswax that provides an excellent background for the remainder of the book. She makes you truly appreciate our bees and what they do for us!

The Beeswax Workshop Contains Excellent Information

Chris Dalziel not only provides excellent instructions, but she makes sure to provide information about the benefits of using beeswax for the projects. Her passion for creating products that really work, while using beeswax as a pivotal ingredient, comes through her writing, and you can't help but want to start making these things yourself!

Every project I have tried has turned out well. I think this is because she is just so clear in her instructions.

An Exceedingly Wide Range of Projects

By far, this reason alone is a reason for doing yourself a favor and purchasing The Beeswax Workshop. There are ten chapters in the book, all comprehensive. From candle making to personal care products...from using beeswax in the home apothecary to cleaning products....from using beeswax in the garden as well as in products for sports equipment and specialty items...and finally beeswax in the arts---you can seriously find just about everything you can imagine in this exceptional book!

I have been enjoying it immensely, and I know I will continue to do so! I have a large list of projects I still plan to make!

How Could The Beeswax Workshop be Improved?

Well, I have purchased other books on using beeswax in projects. One in particular stands out because of its absolutely gorgeous pictures! The content, though, was so disappointing, and the breadth of ideas and projects was pretty slim. The lovely pictures just did not make up for the lack of information and project choices in this book.

The pictures in The Beeswax Workshop are in black and white and are sometimes difficult to see. HOWEVER, I would much rather have quality instructions and text than pretty pictures that leave you with questions unanswered. You won't have the unanswered question problem with Chris' book, and I think it would take you a very long time to try everything she has generously shared in her book!

So--the pictures are pretty much the only thing about this book I would change.

Final Thoughts

This is one of the best project books I've ever had the pleasure of reading. It's absolutely filled with useful ways to use beeswax, and if you are searching for recipes at your fingertips to help you live a more self-sufficient life, then you simply must add this book to your home library!
